Come to know the God who speaks
God makes Himself known so that we may trust Him, worship Him and live before Him. This lesson plan opens the Bible with that purpose. Children investigate what a passage says, consider how it belongs within its book, and give reasons for what they learn about God. Scripture’s message of salvation through faith in Christ gives the opening lesson its centre and the whole plan its direction.
The 25 lessons move through five connected units. We begin by hearing and understanding God’s Word, then consider His rule, name and holiness. Psalms, prophecy and the account of Joseph deepen our understanding of His eternal life, knowledge, justice and care. The Gospels lead us to the Father, Son and Spirit; the final unit brings salvation, prayer, worship and obedience together.
Learning to read with understanding
Paul’s letter, a psalm of praise, a prophet’s message and a Gospel account do not communicate in exactly the same way. The lessons help children notice those differences. They identify the speaker and hearers, trace a reason or contrast, connect an event to its setting and test an explanation against the text. Each investigation should leave them better able to explain what God has made known.
Christ’s place in each lesson follows from the passage and the wider Bible. We will hear Jesus explain the Scriptures, consider His death and resurrection, and explore the saving work of Father, Son and Spirit. Earlier passages retain their own meaning as we learn how the Bible’s unfolding account comes to fulfilment in Him.
Begin here and teach at your class’s pace
Start with Scripture makes us wise for salvation, then follow the lessons in order. Every new passage includes the context a newcomer needs. Earlier attendance, another lesson plan and Home study are not prerequisites. A lesson may continue across meetings when discussion or practical work needs more time.
Use the Overview to find your bearings, study Teacher preparation, then rehearse the Lesson with its printable resources. The Senior Primary guide explains preparation and the 40-minute session pattern. Recall earlier learning as you go and listen for children’s reasons, rather than treating familiar words or completed activities as proof of understanding.
